Iron
Like all metals, iron is a rare and powerful resource (of similar scarcity to gold on earth, or even more rare). Iron was used by the seers of Medinas to connect with the devine, through prophetic dreams. Priests would sleep with talismans of iron, especially iron torcs around the neck, or bracelets on the ankles or wrists, and their dreams would in some sense come true thereafter. This led to a golden age of iron worship and prosperity.
Other rare iron relics included the rings and jewelry of lords and kings, the staffs of the ironmeisters of Einheit, the sword of the messiah, and other rare iron weapons. In the early wars of Kazra and man, iron weapons broke the simple gem-weaponry of the dwarves; but this was not so easy after the Kazra discovered black diamonds.
