The Tagyr Horde

Background: The Tagyr (Tag-eer) tribe were early pastoralists of the great grassy steppe lands to the east of Einheit. They were quick to develop an affinity for horsemanship for the management of their herds and flocks. They move around in semi-nomadic tent cities ('Yarda') following seasonal pastures. As time passed, their mastery of horses and friendship with the Silmari elves has led to their being unparalleled mounted warriors who have often dominated the central steppe and the many trade routes which traverse it.

Politics: The Tagyr have had a long-standing friendship with the Silmari elves, which existed even before the Great Light. They are well known for their utility of Silmari recurve bows. The lack of centralisation and defined urban spaces in the steppe has led to tagyr politics and tribal structures being somewhat fractured and prone to internal upheaval. There are various dominant households (Munyr, Hugzar, and Yykt, to name a few) and these refer to their mobile settlements as '- Yarda' (i.e. Hugzar Yarda). The capital of all Tagyr is called Guk-Yarda (great-settlement), which is a renowned trading post on the River Kuul.

Upon passage through the steppe, and especially on entry into Guk-Yarda, the Tagyr chiefs expect gifts of tribute. Merchants who are unwilling or unable often face harsh reprisals. During the years of tribal stagnation, after the death of Empress Anna Lorelle, The Vogrodi refused to pay the Tagyr their regular ivory tribute, resulting in years of open war between the two factions.

The Tagyr have a storage area in Guk-Yarda which they call the Ruby Trove.
